Dr. Beto, MD

Dr. Alberto “Beto” Araya's story begins at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the village of Combarbalá, Chile — where a curious, driven boy grew up dreaming of a life in medicine. Earning a scholarship to a private Catholic school in Quillota, he set off on an educational journey that would take him from Chile to California and eventually to the heart of Wisconsin.

After earning his bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular biology at California State University Northridge, Dr. Araya completed his medical degree at the University of California San Diego and finished his residency in family medicine at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, California. His early career brought him to the VA system, where he served as Medical Director for five clinics across the upper Midwest.

For 16 years, Dr. Araya practiced medicine with Aspirus Urgent Care Clinics before briefly retiring in 2022. Four months later, the pull of patient care brought him back — a testament to a career built not on obligation, but on genuine passion, where he served the VA for 2 more years. Dr. Araya transitioned to DPC shortly after and now serves as Medical Director at LINK Healthcare.

With over 31 years of clinical experience, Dr. Araya brings a rare combination of breadth and depth to every patient encounter. Family-minded throughout his career, he believes that knowing a patient as a whole person — not just a set of symptoms — is the foundation of excellent medicine.

Outside the clinic: Beto enjoys roasting coffee, playing soccer, biking, kayaking, and spending time with his family who settled in Wausau in 2005.
