Laura Lauer's path to becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner was built one step at a time — and each step made her a better clinician. She began her nursing career in 1991, spending years across emergency departments, ICUs, PACU, med-surg floors, and case management before earning her bachelor's degree, then her master's, and finally her board certification as an FNP-BC in 2019.
For over a decade at Marshfield Clinic's oncology department, Laura served first as a Clinical Research Nurse and then as a Nurse Practitioner — managing chemotherapy infusions, triaging and treating complex symptoms, conducting cancer care assessments, and advocating fiercely for some of the most vulnerable patients in medicine. Her background in clinical research adds a layer of analytical rigor to how she evaluates treatment options and patient outcomes.
Laura's patients quickly notice what her colleagues already know: she listens — really listens. Her exceptional critical thinking and assessment skills are matched by a warmth and genuine care for the people in her chair. She is as comfortable in a complex clinical conversation as she is remembering the name of your dog.
“Exceptional critical thinking, expansive knowledge, and a genuine passion for her patients.”
Outside the clinic: Laura loves spending time with her kids and grandkids (being a Nana is her favorite title), baking for her coworkers, crafting, farm life, and — non-negotiably — her morning coffee.
